Get Closer to Christ this Lent!
  • Consider attending one or more daily Masses during the week at 8:15am, or at another local parish with a convenient time.
  • Read the Daily Mass Readings and slowly and meditatively think about them and what they mean.
  • Learn Lectio Divina, or praying with the Scriptures
  • Fast from a meal on Fridays and use the money you would have spent on that meal to donate to the poor.
  • Spend time with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament in our Adoration Chapel in the Grotto between the Church and Parish Hall.
  • Pray the Rosary and/or Divine Mercy Chaplet daily.
  • Cultivate Silence to encourage prayer during Lent. Turn off TV, Radio, Games or other distractions at least part of the time.
  • Make other sacrifices during Lent. Here are some good ideas.
  • Visit EWTN for Everything you Need to Know About Lent, also En Español (and six other languages!)
  • Watch The Ultimate Guide to Lent from Fr. Mike Schmitz
  • Go to Confession

Ash Wednesday & Good Friday are days of Fasting & Abstinence.

All Fridays in Lent are obligatory days of abstinence from meat.

In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. And he came to her and said, “Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you!..." And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus"... And Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.”
Luke 1: 26-28, 30-31, 38 (RSV-CE)
